Time to Shine: It’s Jury Season! April 21 - 25
Here at TSM we’re dedicated to helping our students grow not only as musicians but as confident performers and well-rounded learners. That’s why, every six months, students who have been attending lessons for at least three months receive a detailed progress report.
These evaluations give teachers the opportunity to assess each student’s development in areas like music theory, technique, and lesson behavior. Teachers look at skills such as pitch recognition, understanding major and minor chords, tempo control, proper posture, and how students engage during lessons.
In addition to written reports, we highly encourage students to participate in juries.
A jury is a short, informal performance where the student plays a piece they’ve prepared for a panel of two or more TSM instructors. It’s a chance to demonstrate what they’ve learned and to be evaluated on elements like:
🎵 Pitch & rhythm
🧠 Technique
🎭 Expression
💪 Confidence
After the jury, the teacher will meet with the student and parent during their next scheduled lesson to review strengths, discuss areas for improvement, and set goals moving forward.
Juries aren’t just about evaluation—they’re a celebration of progress and a chance to shine!
