Ensemble Excitement

At TSM, we know the power of playing music together. That’s why our ensembles have become so popular! Mr. Sal currently leads two bands, First Class Vibes and The Appetizers. His ensembles perform a wide range of music, from Jazz to Cumbia, Pop to Bossa Nova, and New Orleans Second Line to Movie Theme Songs. Some of these students have even written and performed their own original compositions!

Then there’s Mr. Junha’s band, Question of the Week, whose students also have the opportunity to get creative and experiment with improvising over standards and modern jazz. Two of these current ensemble members, who have been longtime TSM students, were accepted to and now attend Houston High School for Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA)—one of the most highly sought-after magnet schools in Houston whose acceptance rate is only 17%.

Membership in these three ensembles has grown significantly over time, and we’re excited to announce a fourth! This new all-girls band, led by Ms. Valerie, is all about empowering girls to come together and create amazing music.

As we’ve seen, students love the connection and energy that comes from playing together. At TSM, that’s our goal—giving students the chance to collaborate, learn, and have fun.
